My interest in canals and inland waterways started at a very early age when I lived at the side of the Macclesfield Canal where my father built a Boat Marina.
I have owned a variety of boats from the age of 10 and boat handling experience on inland waterways is second nature to me.
I decided to turn my experience in to a business and qualified firstly as an R.Y.A Inland Waterways Helmsman and followed this by attaining the C.C.B.M.
We also hold the R.Y.A. International Certificate of Competence C.E.V.N.I. ( Code Europeen des Voies de la Navigation Interieure) which is the European Code for Inland Waterways.
Thank you for sailing my 56ft Sea Otter 'Brittania' from Crick Marina to Garstang on the Lancaster Canal via the Ribble Link. The journey was accomplished on time, and the boat was handed over to me in Garstang in immaculate condition. I was very impressed with your handling of the boat and knowledge of the canal system, including the crossing of the tidal Ribble and the Savick Brook with its associated negotiations with British Waterways staff at Wigan to arrange a passage. If I need Brittania moving across the canal system in the future, I will not hesitate to ask you and I will have every confidence in your ability to deliver on time and leave the boat in pristine condition. Thank you, and best wishes to Mike and Val. Neil Catlow
